Hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer so far.
On Tuesday I will miss rehearsal due to the birth of my son. We need as many students at that rehearsal as possible. Our uniform company representative will be there to fit the band for uniforms at 5:30pm. John Miller will be in charge of this process. Winds and percussion will do one hour of music. Winds lead by Joe Sparks and perc by Mark Ishman. At 5:00 pm, winds and battery will move to the large gym (if available) for visual rehearsal. Pit and guard rehearsals are normal.
On Thursday I will be at rehearsal to run music with winds from 4-5:30pm. At that time, I will leave to help my wife at home and winds and battery will move to visual training with Mr. Sparks.
Thoughts: we had our first rehearsal outside yesterday. Make sure you are hydrating the day before you are rehearsing. If you are hot and thirsty, it’s too late. We also need to our diet around lean protein, minimal dairy, and average carbs (they need the energy) it would be a good idea to go shopping next week to make sure you have lunches lined out and all of the required materials for camp. (See commitment night hand out or wait for the camp details doc)
I am so excited! Our new students are working really well! They are learning fast and are so positive! Our vets are engaged and open. They have been so helpful with new students! The leadership is growing by leaps and bounds. Mr. Sparks and I talked last night about what a great year it is going to be! Mr. Miller told me how much he adores this new team!
We are going to kill it this season. Keep up the good work and keep practicing!
I have added Tuesday evenings in June for all Knightpride members. We will be learning marching basics and/percussion will be using some of that time as well. The staff and I need this time with you because there is so much “new” stuff.

Parents and Students,
I wanted to share some information on some upcoming events.
Friday: Basketball Band will need to meet at 6:45am to get set up for a morning pep rally in the commons. At 8:00am they will be released to set up for our Pep Assembly that begins at 8:30am. The assembly will last about 30 minutes. BBall band has a double header in the evening. I am asking for a 4pm call time so that I can treat them to some pre-game Ice Cream!
Wednesday Feb 15th: The Women’s game as been moved to Pattonville so there is NO BBALL BAND. Parent/teacher conferences will be that evening.
Thursday Feb 16th: On the calendar we have a concert on this day. I had originally planned to continue with this night but do to scheduling and the needs of our ensembles this date will be moved. I will post when I have a replacement date for this event. The event will be a Woodwind Choir, Brass Choir, and Percussion Ensemble concert on the stage. We will then split into two rooms. (WW and Perc) (Brass) We will have the solos and ensembles perform in these rooms to prepare for S&E contest. Depending on the date, It will either help prepare them for the District or the State level contest. If I can’t get a date that is before district, I will personally work with the kids to make sure they understand the process and get the nerves out.
Be sure to join us for the Winter Guard parent performance on this date. I hear there is a surprise in store for me.
Thank you again for your patience with the schedule. Please remember, I am working with a schedule not set by me. I have already begun a working calendar for next year and will have all of next years dates to you before school lets out in May.(Minus opportunities that are added throughout the year.)
More info coming soon.
