Booster Meeting July 18th

Dear Knightpride Families,

Our monthly Band Booster meeting is tomorrow evening at 7pm in the auditorium.  The meeting is mandatory for all families and attendance will be taken.  Mr. Mike Janes with the FHN Activities Office will be with us to address school policy regarding the overnight trip.

In addition, you may also order/pick up Scrip cards for FFC fundraising (order form attached to this email) and order/pay for Show Shirts at this meeting.

Scrip order Bonuses for 7/18 & 8/1

I will be at the Parents Booster meeting on Tue. July 18 with everyone’s gift cards they ordered. I will also be taking new orders. Attached is an order form. There are a few changes:

Walgreens cards are currently not available.

The bonus for Cracker Barrel cards is now 8%.

There are 2 new vendors available:
* Oberweis — 8% bonus, $10 cards
* Sephora — 5% bonus, $20 cards

Finally, there are 22 vendors offering bonuses for the next 2 orders (July 18 and August 1). I have highlighted these vendors on the order form.

Marching Band Show Shirt

Parents and Fans:

Attached you will find an order form for the 2017 FHN Marching Band show shirts.

If you are new to Band, this shirt is an awesome way to show school spirit and “know where you belong” with other FHN band fans.

How to place an order:

Print and complete Marching Band Show Shirt Order Form, include payment (Cash or check-make checks payable to FHNBB).

Orders may be dropped off the following ways:

  1. Attend mandatory band meeting 7/18/17
  2. Meet me at drop off/pick up for evening Band Camp on Thursday 7/20 or Friday 7/20.
  3. Ask your student to drop order in Forms Box in the band room any time before 7/20/17.

In an effort to deliver shirts prior to Black and Gold Day (8/12/17) all orders must be received by Friday 7/21/17.

REMINDER:

The Band Student will receive 1 T-shirt at no cost to them.

Snack Donations & Volunteers

Hello All:

Marching Band Camp starts in another week!! Band camp starts on July 17th and goes until July 28th. We will be providing a snack everyday during camp at 10:00 in the morning. If you would like to volunteer your time please feel free to meet around 9:50 up on the practice field. From set up to tear down the whole process takes no longer than 30 minutes.

If you would like to donate snacks…please feel free to do so!!! We greatly appreciate any donations for the kids!! You can send them with your kids in the morning if you would like….just label that it is for band camp and have your kiddo put it in the band room, and Julie or myself will grab them!! We need goldfish, cheez its, pretzels, animal crackers, grapes, clementines, Popsicles (freeze pops) etc….they will eat anything really!! PLEASE MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS PEANUT FREE!!!!The bulk size items work best, then we can put them in individual baggies (which baggies would be a great donation too…snack size)!!!

Please remember to send your kid with a lunch…as this is just a snack that is provided

I will also be sending out a sign up genius for the pizza party at the end of band camp which will be on Friday July 28th during dinner break…a sign up genius and more info on that to follow.

Congratulations Francis Howell Drumline – Scholastic A MCCGA Champs

The grapevine tells us that Francis Howell’s Winter Drumline was awarded First Place at the MCCGA Championship competition in Ozark, MO today.  The FHHS Drumline includes members from all three district high schools, including FHN musicians August Wise, Addy Bradbury, Lizzy Hale, Brooke Kolath, Brian Cannon, Jayden Jaeger, along with instructors and FHN graduates Katie Busby and Mike Cernicek.

Congratulations on this fantastic achievement!

    Our Pride of Ozarks contest is scheduled for Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st @ Ozark HS in Ozark MO. I am extremely excited to participate in this well run and growing contest. The competition is fierce, which is what we are looking for! We are also very lucky to be hosted by Central High School in Springfield MO. Their band director Chris Rohrbaugh is extremely excited to host for the first time and has worked extensively to make sure we have everything we need.

    Below, you will find an itinerary that spans multiple days, student and chaperone expectations, and procedures. This document will be vital to the success of the trip as it will help alleviate any confusion and keep everyone on schedule.

    Friday September 29th

    2:30PM Rehearsal on Upper Field

    5:00PM Rehearsal Ends

    5:10PM Begin Loading Trailers

    5:30PM Students will meet with chaperones

    Saturday September 30th

    Scenario 1: Students will return to camp at 5:30PM to load equipment and put away uniforms. Dinner will be served at 6PM. Students will troop to the stadium at 7PM to watch bands for the rest of the night.

    Scenario 2: Students will return to camp at 5:30PM and immediately dress and begin with Visual/Perc/Guard Warm up. We will move to music warm up in the time given by our placement. Dinner will be served at 8PM. Students will troop to the stadium at 8:45PM to watch bands for the rest of the night.

    Scenario 3: Students will return to camp at 5:30PM. Dinner will be served at 5:30PM. Students will dress at 6:15PM. At 6:30PM they will move to Visual/Perc/Guard warm ups. We will move to music warm up in the time given by our placement. Our placement time will dictate when the students will load, undress, and watch bands.

    Toiletries (including Shower supplies, towel, etc.)

    Show Shirt, Long black socks, black athletic shorts, extra change of clothes (pride attire) for return trip, Jacket or Hoodie (pride attire) in case of cold.

    Money for concessions

    Instrument with all needed accessories

    Sunscreen

    Water Jugs

    Printed Itinerary

    Procedures/Expectations:

    Equipment will be loaded after rehearsal on Friday.

    Students will report to chaperones for all attendance checks. These Checks will occur every time the band moves locations.

    Students will check medication in to designated chaperone Saturday morning. She will administer as per your prescribed schedule.

    Students will have Luggage checked Saturday Morning by chaperone.

    Busses will have Quiet Rides Saturday Morning and Sunday Morning

    Students will be separated into two gyms by gender. Special Accommodations can be made upon request.

    Once at Central for the night. NO STUDENTS will be allowed to be ANYWHERE but designated areas.

    All will adhere to a “lights out” time

    THE KEY to making this weekend great is to be at the right place with the right stuff at the right time. Be the awesome respectful band that I know you are to everyone you encounter. Make smart decisions and exemplify maturity and class. I know you will do great!
