Financial Commitment

A Family Financial Commitment (FFC) is required to fund your child’s marching band, color guard and/or winter guard experiences. No fundraising is required if you prefer to pay costs out-of-pocket. Some families choose to fundraise the entire cost. Other families fundraise a portion of the expense and pay the rest out-of-pocket. It’s your choice. You may start fundraising while your child is in middle school, if desired. We host an annual “Commitment Night” each spring to collect your FFC down payment and enrollment forms.

The FFC is re-evaluated each year by the booster executive committee. All costs are reviewed to keep the FFC as low as possible without reducing the performance of the marching band and guard programs. The FFC covers virtually all costs of participation, including uniforms, shoes, show shirt, transportation, lodging, camp snacks, and one meal on competition days.

We do not want economic factors to keep any student from participating in band. Please talk to the director or a Band Booster officer before deciding band is too expensive.

Why the Financial Commitment is Necessary

The school district does not provide enough funding to operate a successful band program. Some expenses are paid by the participating students/families and some are reduced or eliminated.  Examples of marching band and color guard expenses include:

Competition fees
Student meals, transportation, and lodging
Staff salaries
Music rights
New and replacement instruments
Vehicles to transport instruments and guard equipment
Fuel and insurance
